Japanese influenced
water feature and dry river bed
This
water feature was added to this garden space to add interest and energy to a
small area. Having an existing Japanese style planting scheme
including Acer's, Bamboo's and Reed's, the brief for the garden was to
encorporate and continue a Japanese theme. This meant using the
elements of time, patience, movement and energy. We used slate to
create a stream and fall introducing positive energy embraced in Japanese
schemes.
The water eminates from a
spring adjacent to a specimen bamboo. The bamboo is used for its
movement in the wind to bring energy to redundant areas, and also for its
back drop for the driftwood worn by time and water. A signifying
factor of the Japanese themes of time and patience. Time and patience
is again reflected in the dry river bed and its inclusion of river boulders
smooth and worn by time and movement.
The grasses and plants growing
in the river bed is a reminder of the movement and energy where once the
water flowed.
